Meet the Artist

A love of fashion and art has been part of my life ever since I was a young girl.  I am attracted to a variety of media, but porcelain is my favorite.  Over the years, dollmaking has become a true passion.  I am completely self-taught through books, magazines, trial and error.  I have been making porcelain dolls for almost 20 years and have also sculpted one-of-a-kind original dolls in polymer clay.  Until recently, dollmaking has been just a hobby, since I was also busy with a career and family.

Several years ago I came across a miniature doll on eBay and was captivated by its beauty and intricate detail.  That chance encounter with the doll and its creator, who is now a very good friend, led me into the world of miniatures.  Miniature dollmaking is challenging because it involves many diverse skills, such as sculpting, working with porcelain clay, firing and china painting, costume and pattern design, sewing and wigmaking.  In addition to miniatures, I also enjoy making larger scale dolls and accessories.

Although frustrating at times, being able to utilize so many creative talents can also be extremely rewarding, especially when a piece is aesthetically pleasing.  I receive great satisfaction in knowing that my work brings joy to a collector.  The wonderful people I have met as a result of my involvement in dolls and miniatures have truly been an inspiration and a blessing.

I am an Artisan member of the International Guild of Miniature Artisans (IGMA).  I am also a member of the United Federation of Doll Clubs, Bismarck Doll Friends, and the Midwest Miniature Guild.  My work has been featured in "Dollhouse Miniatures" and DollsHouse and Miniature Scene" magazines.  My dolls and accessories are in private collections around the world, and three dolls are on display in the Puppenhaus Museum in Basel, Switzerland.

I consider myself fortunate to have tremendous support and encouragement from my husband, family and friends.  For me, creating is a dream come true!

Thanks for visiting,

Lynda
